Dear Neighbor,

We hope this note finds you well. We’re writing to share a brief update about a current project at our family property, Wood Ranch at 2900 Camino Tassajara. We’d like you to hear about it from us first and to have some context about the project.

Our family has stewarded Wood Ranch for 164 years- more than six generations- and we continue to live and work on the land today. As part of our efforts to preserve the ranch and its historic buildings long-term, we are applying to the Town of Danville for approval to use a small portion of the property as a limited, boutique event space for weddings, private gatherings, and occasional corporate events. As part of this, we are also evaluating the possible renovation of a barn originally built in 1881.

The Town of Danville’s process requires that nearby property owners within a certain distance will receive a formal notice from the Town once the application is under review. You should expect to receive that notice in the coming weeks, which includes a standard 10-day comment period.

We are reaching out personally in advance to share a few important things:
• The proposed land use is in substantial conformance with the goals and policies of the Town’s 2030 General Plan.
• A small-scale event venue is already a permitted use under the site’s P-1 zone designation, per Municipal Code Section 32-63.
• This proposal uses existing spaces only- no new construction or major development.
• We anticipate a limited number of events.
• Events would be scheduled thoughtfully and seasonally, with strict adherence to Town rules around noise, lighting, traffic, and parking.
• We are committed to operating in a way that is respectful of our neighbors and consistent with the rural character of the area.

Our goal is simple: to continue caring for and preserving the ranch for future generations, while sharing it in a measured, low-impact way. We truly value this community and want to approach this process transparently and collaboratively.

If you have questions or would simply like to better understand what we’re proposing, we genuinely welcome the chance to talk- by phone, email, or in person if helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of the community we’re proud to call home.

Warm regards,
Emilie Wood
